The surprises never end!
The good news is that they have not sold as the Post Office parking lot, the ancient palace of the former Magistrates Court!
I read, however, that the offices of the Public Works sector of the City, by the will of the Board, should be transferred again: and where? Right there in the building vacated by the Court.
After being away for several years in Verdi, in the nineties the offices were moved in the GST, in a wing of property of the City, with expenses. The transfer, however, needed to finally give adequate space to an important service for a municipality, because it takes care of the design and control on all public works, the maintenance of municipal buildings, schools, roads, parks, and bicycle and so on. Public money was spent, and many, to adjust the various offices and to furnish them, but it was said, you go to settle a logistical problem and takes a public service in an area where many insist other public services: from ' Municipal Archives Bureau registry, gas, water, waste, not to mention the Justice of the Peace Court and that is the latest in time!
I read that the motivation of the transfer is this: you save on rentals! But there is no savings, since the building is owned by the city. And what expenses must instead deal with a new move and put under a building as old as that of the former Court, subject to all the constraints of the Superintendent and not accessible to the disabled? And how you answer the need for parking have also seen the remarkable fleet of service?
Not to mention that there are sectors which are highly compressed inside the town hall, such as Social Services, which shares with Population status and the east wing of the ground floor and is suffering because of the complexity and diversity of tasks that have multiplied in recent years. One answer, if anything, should be given to them!
Or you can place the former courthouse to make room for traffic wardens, since the work on the new headquarters, scheduled in the station, are still blocked due to the remediation must be done on the ground. To ensure that the brigade would save on rent, which is tens of thousands of € per year!
I dare not mention the adaptation of the Palace in order to make the Museum, as the Government is about to close the Museum Giorgione, and yet the materials and objects that speak of the history of this city there are, and many more! The City has significant donations, paintings, sculptures, inscriptions, objects that tell of the Middle Ages and the Renaissance to the Age of Enlightenment, and then a collection of memorabilia that renaissance, especially in the sesquicentennial of the Unification of Italy, we could show with pride ! Castelfranco is City of Art and History and its historic center has this vocation!
But once we move the public works! How much will it cost us? And where do we get the money because the mayor says there are none that can not and must cut spending, cut and trim?
would be interesting to have a response.
